Are you traveling to Canada with your pet?
Beginning 8/1/24 the CDC has NEW requirements for your pet to return to the US.
CDC requires all dogs to:
- Be at least 6 months of age at time of entry or return to the US.
- Have an implanted standardized microchip. This chip must be implanted prior to the rabies vaccination and be documented on all required forms and accompanying records.
- Appear healthy upon arrival. Dogs may not enter the US if they are carrying a disease contagious to people. If determined they are not healthy, they will be isolated and treated or quarantined at the owner’s expense.
- Have a CDC Dog import form receipt. This form is completed by the pet owner prior to entering the US. All information, including the port of entry must be correct at the time of arrival. - RVVS completes a Certification of US issued rabies vaccine form endorsed by the USDA. This form can take up to 60 days to receive the endorsed copy back, so please plan accordingly.
